Founder & Managing Partner
Lu Zhang is the Founding and Managing Partner of Fusion Fund. Lu is a World Economic Forum - Young Global Leader (Class of 2018). She has also garnered other accolades including the Featured Honoree in VC of Forbes 30 Under 30 (2017), Silicon Valley Women of Influence (2018), Town & Country 50 Modern Swans – Entrepreneurship Influencer (2017), and Top 10 All America Chinese Youth (2018). Prior to starting Fusion Fund, she was the Founder and CEO of a medical device company focused on non-invasive technology for the early diagnosis of Type II diabetes (acq 2012). Lu is a frequent speaker at tech events and conferences and also serves as a mentor and advisor to several tech innovation programs in Silicon Valley. Lu is the board member of the Youth Council of Future Forum and Future Science Award. She received her M.S. in Materials Science and Engineering from Stanford University.
Homan Yuen is a Partner of Fusion Fund. Prior to joining Fusion Fund, he was Co-Founder and CTO of Solar Junction (acq 2014), a company which produced and sold world-record solar products to the terrestrial and satellite markets. Homan has over 15 years experience working in a broad range of technologies, management, finance, and investor activities. He is active in the entrepreneur and investor communities providing mentorship to programs like StartX and Alchemist Accelerator. Homan received his Ph.D. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering and Materials Science from Stanford University and his B.A. in Physics from UC Berkeley.
Carol Mao is a Vice President of Fusion Fund. She has extensive experience in US and Asian capital markets. Prior to joining Fusion Fund, she was a senior Investment Banking Associate at Deutsche Bank and CITIC Securities International for over five years. During this time, she participated in or completed more than 15 IPO/M&A/Bond/pre-IPO investment transactions. Carol has an M.B.A. degree from Columbia Business School, a M.S. in Financial Mathematics and Statistics from HKUST and a B.S. in Mathematics from Peking University.
Senior Investment Analyst
Daniel Gomez recently graduated from Loyola Marymount University 16' with a B.B.A. in Entrepreneurship. Throughout his time in Los Angeles Daniel was actively involved in the burgeoning tech hub of Silicon Beach. He has interned across three other LA-based venture groups - Mucker Capital, Tech Coast Angels, and TYLT Ventures. Following graduation Daniel was involved with Techstars / Cedars-Sinai Accelerator as an associate during the accelerators’ 3-month program, worked as a venture consultant with March Capital, and volunteered for the operations innovation team of the Office of Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti.
Chief Financial Officer
Lars Ahlstrom serves as CFO and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in the financial/operational function in venture capital/private equity. He previously spent eight years as CFO/Operating Partner at Mainsail Partners and has also worked with leading firms like Golden Gate Capital and Storm Ventures. He is currently supporting several other VC/PE clients in the Bay Area. He has a BS in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University and an MBA from UCLA Graduate School of Business.
Colin Rogister is a Venture Consultant at Fusion Fund. At Fusion Fund, he sources and conducts due diligence on companies in a variety of spaces, including marketplaces, enterprise, and AI/machine learning applications. Colin was recently a Rock Venture Partner at Harvard Business School, where he invested in early-stage startups in the Rock Accelerator and mentored the founding teams. He also was previously at Bessemer Venture Partners, where he worked on their consumer team and developed a thesis in the baby boomer tech space. Prior to being an investor, Colin worked in the Obama White House’s National Economic Council, serving as a Special Advisor. He tackled a variety of tech issues as a member of the broader White House technology team and co-led the President’s ed tech initiative (ConnectED). Colin holds an M.B.A. from Harvard Business school and a B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
